How much of our lives are spent w..a..i..t..i..n..g? I’m not sure what the statistics are but it seems like it is too much time. It is hard for adults to wait but all the more so for our kids!
With all that waiting in mind, I put together a portable bag of treasures to bring with me when I go. We use the miniatures in the bag to play games and make up stories. Not only is it fun, it is educational!
In the bag is a list of 10 games to play with the miniatures. You can print this list HERE. When you sit down at the doctors office, whip this little bag out choose one of the activities to pass the time!
As for what to place in the bag, just go look around your house and through the toy box. To make the mini Cat In The Hat book, I scanned the open book. Then shrunk it down, printed it and cut it out. I added blank pages of paper and stapled the stack in the middle where it was folded in half. For the chalkboard, I painted a chalkboard on a small, thin piece of wood. I made the tread spool by winding red thread around a wooden spool and gluing the end. You get the idea and the more unique and varied the items in the bag the more fun it is!
You can purchase these organza bags at craft stores like Michael’s and Joann’s . Choose the size bag by the size of the miniatures you want to put in it. This bag measures 41/2 x 61/2” when laying flat.
A couple of notes:
- These bags contain small items that may be a CHOKING HAZARD to small children. Never leave small children unattended with small objects.
