Gunny Sack Youngsters: Pop Can "Motorcycles"

Let the kids make some noise with all of those empty pop cans this weekend before they get tossed into the recycling bin!  They can use the pop cans to make their bikes sound like motorcycles!
Check out my first ever video to hear what they sound like:
Okay…so now you know your kids will LOVE it and the neighbors will HATE it!!  Here’s how you do it:
Set 1 empty pop can on the ground in front of the rear tire.
Roll the bike forward, over the pop can, crushing it.
The can is now stuck to the tire and will ride up as the tire turns.
The can will stop when it hits the frame.
That’s it…you are all set to go!  Riders start your engines!
Sometime the cans need a little help staying on, just use your hands to press it on better.  Thanks for reading!

  1. Your kids must think you are the COOLEST mom!

My baby is 18 years old so listen to me when I tell you this…..

THIS is the kind of thing that your children will remember. You are making such good memories.

  3. Oh my, I don’t know if I could stand that! I think I’ll tell my boys about it anyways, they will LOVE this idea! I thought for sure it was going to involve cutting the cans, but this is so simple they will be able to do it almost on their own too!

    Thanks!

  4. My son will love this! Thanks for the fun tip!

  5. Yep I agree with the first comment..You get a “Cool Mom” award for this! My nephews would love this! So cute

  6. What a very fun Mom you are! Would love it if you came over and linked this up at our Outdoor Play linky. Outdoor Play is just as important for the bigs kids as for the little ones, but it seems to be harder to get them out there when they’re older. This would be the perfect motivator, I’m sure!

  7. What a fun idea for kids! I bet they have a blast with those cans. Thanks for sharing & thanks for the blog visit :)

  8. I know my 13 year old nephew would just love this. And I say ‘piff’ to the neighbours :) What fun! And so ridiculously simple. Anything that gets tweens and teens outdoors and moving about is just fine in my books :)

Thanks for sharing this with us. Hope to see you again next week.

  9. We did this when we were kids! It’s the BEST EVER! I think we stuck playing cards in the spokes too. There was something else that made “engine” noises.

Saw your Turtle Pretzels pinned on Etsy and had to come check them out.

  10. I know I commented before but I just wanted to pop back to say thanks for coming over to link this up! Would love to have you back at tomorrow’s Outdoor Play linky!
