Saturday Sewing: Abercrombie Inspired Shorts

Upcycle a pair of jeans by turning them into jean shorts instead of paying $58 for a pair from the store!
Cut one jean leg at the desired length (remember to factor in the cuff when deciding the length).  I just cut mine right at the top edge of the hole figuring that would be where the top of the knee was.
Line the 2 pant legs up, one on top of the other, with the cut leg on top.
Cut the second pant leg using the first one to measure the length.
Toss the jean shorts into the wash and then dryer to fray the bottoms.  Clip the strings and fray more, as necessary.
Fold a cuff and iron flat.  Then, using matching thread sew a few stitches, back and forth, along the seam.

That’s it…felt good to save all that money didn’t it!

    PERFECT for summer days!

  7. What, you don’t think $58 is a good price for SHORTS? ha! ME EITHER! I love this idea and will certainly give it a whirl. I have a pair of Old Navy jeans, which I love, but are about 2″ shorter than I’d like them to be, making me look quite dorky. This would be a great solution. thanks for sharing! *visiting from fabric bows and more*

  8. Great idea! My daughter, 17, loves Abercrombie, but I wouldn’t pay $60 for a yard of denim fabric in the shape of some shorts!LOL Thanks for sharing your “how to”!

  9. I have a pair of pants that are too short. I was thinking about making them into a skirt, but now they are becoming some shorts!
