I have been involved in the Elmer’s Bag It Forward program for a couple of months now. The more I work with Elmer’s the more impressed I am with how they give back to the community and schools in particular!

So far, I have shared with you Elmer’s Bag It Forward, where we shopped for and donated school supplies to another family in the community. #BagItForward

Then came, Elmer’s You’ve Been Bagged, where I shopped for classroom supplies for a teacher.

And now comes Elmer’s Bag It Forward Glue Crew, which is a recycling program for Elmer’s glue bottles and sticks! I had to opportunity to design a Glue Crew Collection box and decided to make it look like a jumbo sized glue stick.

To make this collection box, I used an Elmer’s Tri-Fold Display Board, an Elmer’s X-TREME Glue Stick, packing tape and an extra piece of cardboard.

I folded the wide part of the display board in half and folded the other creases the opposite way so that the white was on the outside. Now I had a large rectangular prism. I found another piece of cardboard and cut 4 small tabs out. I glued the tabs onto the edge of the cardboard and then put packaging tape over the tabs for added strength. Then, I glued the tabs to the other edge so that the box is now closed. I added packaging tape to this side too.

I cut out a square of cardboard with side tabs and then glued it to the bottom. I taped it in place too. Here is a look at the inside of the box.

For the outside of the box, I glued orange and blue paper on the box. Then, I printed off the Elmer’s logo and glued them on. Next, I made the Washable School Glue logo in a scrapbooking program since I couldn’t find one online to use and glued them on. The last step was to tape over the edges of the paper and the box to help it be more sturdy. This Glue Crew Collection Box is going into an elementary school after all! My daughter really wants to bring it to school with her. So, she is going to ask her teacher if they can have it in their classroom. If not, I will talk to the office to see if they have a place it can go.

Wondering how to get your school involved in the Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program? You can find the specifics at Elmer’s Glue Crew Website. Make a collection box for the school that once filled can be dropped off at Walmart or they can be shipped at no cost to TerraCycle. Check the website for how to get the specific labels needed.
Did you know that Elmer’s is a Upromise partner and that every time you purchase an Elmer’s or Krazy Glue product with your registered drug or grocery card, a percentage of your purchase will be put into your Upromise account.
