Last week I was part of the Easter Egg Hunt at It’s Overflowing and I thought I would share the tutorial here, in case you missed it! I decided to make ruffled Easter eggs that I can use year after year.

I started out by spray painting foam eggs. To make this step easier, I stuck toothpicks in the bottom of the eggs and stood them up on a large piece of foam.

Next, I made the ruffles. I cut strips of fabric that was already slightly ruffled. Then, I turned my sewing machine’s tension to the highest number (9) and my stitch length to the highest number (4.5) and sewed down the center of the fabric strips. My machine made the ruffles for me.

Then, I hot glued the ruffles to the eggs.

I felt like I needed to add something to the center of the ruffles so I added some baker’s twine. Ruffles could be added to plastic eggs, wooden eggs or even hard boiled eggs using this same technique!
Stop by It’s Overflowing to check out the eggs the rest of the bloggers did!

Seriously, who would have thought of adding ruffles to eggs? You did! So clever. I can imagine these sitting in a beautifully decorated bowl in the middle of some shabby chic farmhouse’s kitchen.
Oh goodness, these are so cute. I would have never have thought to add ruffle but they turned out adorable!
These are the cutest little eggs–ever! Love them!
Seriously the cutest little eggs ever! You are so creative!
I have seen so many darn cute eggs and have not made any yet, and if I end up with typical dyed ones I’m gonna slap myself!
