Good bye Nokia Astound
Good Morning! I completely forgot to post the link party today. I will have it up in a few minutes. We had a very busy weekend and then this morning I spent a long time on the phone with T-Mobile because my cell phone isn’t working. Well, the phone itself is functioning but I have no bars of service so I can’t make calls or text. Unfortunately, they were unable to fix it and well…darn, since my warranty expired last month, they can’t replace my phone. But I can buy a new phone from the with a slight discount if I want and get locked into a new 2 year contract! They said they don’t want to loose me as a customer and they will give me the best discount they can but I am not sure that I want to continue using T-Mobile.
We have been with T-Mobile for over 5 years and they seem to have great pricing. We have a 2 line plan with my daughter added for only $9.99 as a 3rd line. We share minutes, have unlimited texting and have WiFi access but do not pay for internet. When I’ve checked around it seems like other companies are more expensive on items like unlimited texting. We pay about $20 a month for the entire family to have unlimited texting. Another company charges $20 a month PER LINE for unlimited texting.
Also, I really liked the cell phone that I have because it has a great camera (8 megapixels), is a touch screen and has the WiFi option so I can access the internet if I need to by going to a place with free WiFi. It is a smartphone but we do not have to pay the high price for internet access.
I am floundering without a cell phone! More than half of my contacts disappeared when I was trying my husband’s SIM card in my phone and I don’t have people’s numbers memorized! I don’t even know my husband’s work number…LOL! I am not sure what to do so I would like your advice and in the meantime you can find me down at the local payphone!
What cell phone company do you use and do you like them?
What have you heard is the best company to go with?
What cell phone companies should I avoid and why?
Due to stolen content, I have found it necessary to only show a snippet of my blog posts in my feed. Thank you for understanding that I want to keep the content I work hard to create on my website where it is originally published: thegunnysack.com

Hello, I'm Tonia. Welcome to The Gunny Sack, my online place to inspire others through recipes, crafts and tutorials.

I am seriously LOST without my cellphone so I feel your pain! I have an iPhone and really like it (so easy to read blogs online or facebook/tweet). Good luck getting yours fixed!
Oh no! I don’t know if T-Mobile is a carrier but I love love love my iPhone. It’s the best phone I’ve ever had and the camera on the 4s is amazing. But I hear a lot of people like Android phones too. Good luck finding one!
We use Verizon. I’ve had Verizon since I was 15 years old (shh…thats 15+ years total with them)! Great service pretty much everywhere…included the random backroads near my parents rural home.
Unfortunately, since i have never had anything else, I can’t answer the other questions. Sorry
I can say that I have the new Galaxy Nexus and L-O-V-E it!
T.mobile never worked in my rural area nor did I get good svc from at&t. Verizon was the only carrier we could have. However, I don’t text, send emails, pix, etc. Me cell is only for when my voip phone is out or I’m on the road. Had a few bumps w/ verizon and they’re pricy. Would love an iPhone but don’t want to add $30 per month to my cell bill like my son did for his iPhone. Wish you well with your quest.
Oh no! Well, we are sooooo behind the times over here. We just use tracfone…3 phones for under $25 a month but of course we have do not use internet on our phones. Just use them for talking & texting. Good luck finding a new phone!
I live in the Philadelphia area and we have Verizon. I know that mobile service varies based on your location, but we’ve always had a signal with Verizon (with the small exception of one rural town in Vermont). We’ve traveled into Canada and the Caribbean, underground on NYC subways, throughout the East Coast (and some parts of the Midwest) without any signal issues. Verizon can be one of the more expensive carriers, but I pay a few bucks more for reliability.
It sounds like you’re hesitant to get a smartphone, but if you decide to go with one, get the iPhone. It’s easy to use (and I’ve had other smartphones) and it’s the most popular option so it has the most apps and everyone knows how to use it. I can’t say enough good things about the iPhone. It’s worth the cost of the data plan. I especially like that my photos on my phone sync wirelessly (automatically) through iPhoto on my Mac.
Gee sorry Tonia. I can’t help you. Of course the providers are different between countries but I really don’t get into my cell phone at all. I can barely remember to have it charged or take it with me when I go out. Good luck!
Anne xx
I have an Iphone and love it! I’m with At&T. It’s a little pricy, but I love being able to connect to the internet whenever I want to.
Oh no! I’ve had Verizon for at least four years now and I’ve had pretty great service from them. (AT&T I will never use again…they made me mad once.) I think all of the other phone providers I’ve had are no more!
I actually am ready to upgrade but I’m sort of waiting to see what’s up with the new iPhone. (I think latest rumors are September.)
I’m on a droid now and am happy with what droid has to offer…but I’m not happy with my particular phone because of an issue that’s HTC’s fault.
Good luck!
