Last month I had some little girls over to do crafts. One of the things we made were Paper Covered Headbands. The girls were so happy with how the headbands turned out and very proud that they decorated the headbands themselves! The girls that made these headbands will be in preschool but older girls would love making these for back to school!

They really liked this purple paper! The first step was to cut small pieces of paper.

I gave each girl a small cup with some Mod Podge for Kids and a paintbrush. They painted the Mod Podge on the headbands and stuck the pieces of paper in it. This was a little frustrating for these preschool girls but they wanted to do it themselves which is awesome!

We helped them add additional pieces of paper to the bare spaces.

We added a coat of Mod Podge for Kids to the top of the paper to help the pieces stick. I used scissors to trim off the excess paper from the headband’s edges.

Once dry, we decided to add glitter because what little girl doesn’t love all things sparkly?

We brushed on Mod Podge Gloss with a foam brush.

Then we sprinkled on the glitter. This glitter was from the dollar craft bins at Walmart.

Once dry, we sprayed the headbands with Mod Podge Super Hi-Shine clear acrylic sealer. The sealer will keep the finish from being sticky and keep the glitter in place!

We have a couple of headbands left and Vanessa wants to try making one of her own. I plan to post a few additional back to school hair accessories ideas but we shall see if I have enough time before summer ends!

Hi, I'm Tonia from The Gunny Sack! As a wife and mother of three, I enjoy cooking, creating and capturing it all with my camera! Coffee, with a little chocolate now and then, keeps me happy.

Super cute! My daughter would have so much fun with this. I will most definitely be doing this with her.
