We just got back from a fun 4 day weekend at our friend’s house in South Dakota. The weather was perfect and the kids spent most of their time outside. They rode a four wheeler, a dirt bike and a snowmobile (complete with wheels). My friend’s husband has an ultralight and he gave rides to anyone who wanted to go up. We had a bonfire and roasted marshmallow and made s’mores.

After having a fun filled day in “town” I picked up the supplies from Walmart for an fun dipping dinner and game night.

I bought Scattergories from Walmart and my friend bought another game. Christine has been telling me that Scattergories is one of her favorite games and it is one of the games we didn’t own. Before going shopping, I checked Hasbro’s website to see what games were available that we did not have at home. I found Scattergories as well as The Game of Life zAPPed. We were not able to find The Game of Life zAPPed at Walmart but we did find Scattergories!

Each player gets a list of categories and they have to make a list of answers that all start with the same letter. The game was a lot of fun and I know we are going to use it often. They also played the game my friend purchased that involved getting a description of a character trait and each player had to choose the player they though the trait most described. This game produced a ton of giggles and laughs. We are back home now but just this morning Vanessa told me that she really thinks Scattergories is fun and can’t wait to play it again!

We also had a dipping dinner! What is a dipping dinner? Well, it is a dinner that is all about dipping and what kid doesn’t love foods that can be dipped? We assembled 3 kinds of kabobs for eating and dipping: fruit, veggie and nuggets & fries.

Each kabob had it’s own dip. The dip for the nuggets and fries was Heinz ketchup! We also had fruit and ranch dips.
I purchased a tray of precut, prewashed veggies for making the veggie kabobs. I threaded grape tomatoes, broccoli, sugar snap peas, carrots and celery on bamboo skewers.
Next came the fruit kabobs. My friend made these ones and they were way easier to make than the veggies because the fruit is softer. She threaded on strawberries, grapes, pineapple and watermelon.
For the fruit kabobs, I made a fruit dip. I beat together 1 package of cream cheese and 1 container of marshmallow cream. This fruit dip is good on any kind of fruit and can even be used on fruit pizza.

For the main meal kabobs, I baked Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Golden Crinkle Fries and Tyson Chicken Nuggets. There were lots of varieties of nuggets and fries at Walmart and my friend’s daughter help me decide which to buy. You can see more about the shopping trip in my Google+ album.

When they finished cooking, I threaded the nuggets and fries on the skewers. The kids thought it was really neat!

On the bags of Ore-Ida Golden Crinkle Fries and Tyson Chicken Nuggets, I found this fun booklet. Inside was a coupon for $2.00 of the purchase of the fries, nuggets and ketchup. Woohoo! I love finding coupons. There was also QR Code which I scanned right in the store with my iPad. It brought me to the Dip To Play website. From the website, you can enter to win a $1,000 Hasbro Game Night or 1 of 250 Hasbro Family Games (find the sweepstakes rules here). Sounds like fun!!

Once we got home, I created an account at Dip To Play to enter the sweepstakes. I was also able to enter the UPCs from my Heinz Ketchup, Tyson Chicken Nuggets and Ore-Ida fries to unlock access to the online game of the week. This week’s game is Connect 4! We had such a nice vacation and look forward to future game nights and more dipping dinners!

Hi, I'm Tonia from The Gunny Sack! As a wife and mother of three, I enjoy cooking, creating and capturing it all with my camera! Coffee, with a little chocolate now and then, keeps me happy.

A dipping dinner sounds and look like so much fun! My little guy loves any “sauce” so this would be perfect to do with him. Thanks so much for sharing the fun idea!
