Dr. Pepper Chocolate Sauce Recipe

For those of you that don’t already know, I have a few addictions. They include coffee, chocolate and Diet Dr. Pepper! My husband is an even bigger Diet Dr. Pepper fan than I am and it is almost always available at our house. I decided to try combining 2 of my favorites: chocolate and Dr. Pepper. Previously, I’ve made Dr. Pepper cake and Dr. Pepper brownies but I wanted to try something new. So, I made Dr. Pepper Chocolate Sauce for ice cream.

It only requires 2 ingredients: Dr. Pepper and chocolate frosting. Any flavor Dr. Pepper would work. I think it would be fun to try this recipe with the cherry and cherry vanilla flavors.
Place half of the container of chocolate frosting in a bowl and add 1/4 cup of Dr. Pepper.
Stir the two together until smooth.
Then, drizzle the sauce over your ice cream! Vanessa said it tastes like a McDonald’s ice cream sundae. Store any additional Dr. Pepper Chocolate Sauce in the refrigerator.

  1. Oh, this sounds like a great ice cream topping!

  2. Seriously, you are so clever. I never would have thought of mixing these two but sounds like it would go well together!Actually I am drinking a Dt Dr Pepper as we speak. I trade my addiction between that and Diet coke.

  3. I am a major Dr. Pepper fan, actually everyone in my family is. This is such a great idea.

  4. What?! How in the world did you come up with such a genius combination of ingredients!! This sounds so yummy!

  8. Oh my goodness Tonia. You’ve lost me on this one. When I was in the States I thought I’d try Dr Pepper to see what all the fuss was about. Nuh! You can have it all on your own. I think it’s awful. I don’t think its real popular with anyone here in Australia. They can’t even give it away at the store! LOL The chocolate frosting, on the other hand, I can eat that stuff straight out of the can! LOL (I’m a little partial to Pepsi Max. Not all the time though.)

  9. What a seriously addicting idea! First I had no idea you could melt frost for a sauce (brilliant!) but I’ve got to try adding Dr.Pepper!

  10. I am drooling here! I like Dr. Pepper flavor, I bet that made an awesome chocolate sauce!

  11. Pepsi Maxx is my current fav! Diet Dr Pepper is the only diet pop my husband likes. Thanks for the great recipes!
