Last week Zack asked me what my all time favorite store was. I think he was disappointed when I told him any craft store because that is the last place a 9 year old boy wants to be. But I enjoy walking around craft stores, looking at all of the fun products, checking out pattern books and dreaming about crafting! So, I am excited to tell you about a brand new paper crafting line that will be available soon at Jo-Ann stores:
Core’dinations David Tutera Paper Crafts
It was designed to make paper crafting as simple as 1-2-3 and the results are beautiful! I made this flower card and matching gift bag using items from the line.

I received a package with all of these David Tutera products. Aren’t they fantastic? I kept pulling the items from the box to look them over, sifting and sorting while thinking of fun things to make. Of course, the main idea is to make cards which I definitely will do but my crafter’s mind was swirling with other fun ideas from cupcake toppers to banners to paper wreathes.

David Tutera’s paper line is a three step system. The products are clearly marked with the steps. The cards are step 1 which is highlighted with a pink background. There are glittery cards, white cards, silver cards, colored cards, textured cards and card with a decorative edge. I love the variety of sizes and colors.

Step 2 is all about adding color and texture to the base card. It is marked with a blue banner. The items I received include various cut outs, paper lace, glittery papers and fun textures. These can easily be attached to the cards and will really make them stand out.

And finally step 3, which is marked with a black banner, is for embellishing. There are buttons, words, flowers, tags, string, gems, hearts and so much more! This step puts the finishing touches on the cards.

To make my project, I use the primary colored cards, paper lace, decorative edged cards, wedding embellishments and a plain blue gift bag.

Starting with the step 1 blue card, I cut a strip of blue paper to attach to a step 1 decorative edge card. I used a tape runner to adhere the paper to the inside of the card so that the blue will peek through the decorative lace edge when the card is closed.

Next, I drew a simple flower template and traced the flower shapes on the blue cards. To make the flowers, I had to cut out 10 flower shapes.

I rolled the petals around a pencil to get them to curl.

I curled some of them tightly and others loosely.

I put a glue dot in the center of one of the flower shapes and added another flower shape on top of it. I continued until all five shapes were added and it was a full flower. Then, I did the same for the second flower.

I placed a white pearl gem from the step 3 wedding embellishment package to the center of each flower.

I attached the paper flower to the corner of the card.

Next, I decorated the gift bag. I chose a beautiful piece of white lace paper from the step 2 package. I used glue dots to adhere the lace paper to the bag. Then, I added the paper flower.

I just love how they turned out! The contrast of the blue and white commands attention. The card and bag are simple but the lace cut outs along with the flower embellishment change the look from simple to simply elegant!
