3M & Pep Boy Bucket of Goodies Giveaway

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pep Boys. All opinions are 100% mine.

Did you realize that October is Headlight Safety Month? With Dayligh Savings decreasing daylight driving time and trick-or-treaters roaming the streets, it is the perfect time to make sure your headlights are working properly. Moms want to do everything they can to make sure they are safe drivers! I received a 3M Headlight Restoration Kit from Pep Boys stores to try out. This kit does not require tools and was so easy to use! Over time the plastic headlight lenses on vehicles start to become yellowed, hazy and dull. My husband had already restored the headlights on my van so I asked my mom if I could clean hers. With this kit, I was able to easily clean the headlights on my mom’s van and now she will be able to see so much better.

Here is the before and after of the passenger side headlight! Isn’t that fantastic? I will show you how easy it was.
I cleaned these headlights right in my parent’s driveway. Here is the driver side headlight before getting started. The first steps are to prop the hood open, wash the headlight lens with soapy water and tape off the painted surfaces around the lens with an automotive safe masking tape.
Step 2 is to attach the first sanding disc to the orange foam pad and using high pressure, sand the lens to remove the yellowing and surface defects. I used a cloth to wipe away excess sanding dust during the process. After completing this step, the lens looks frosted.
Then, I attached the next sanding disc and continued sanding the lens to reduce the sand scratches. This is what it looked like when I was done.
Next, I attached one of two greenish-gray sanding discs. Using a spray bottle, I dampened the greenish-gray foam and began sanding to reduce the sand scratches even more. The white stuff that you can see in this picture means that it is working!
Then, I attached the second of the two greenish-gray sanding disc and followed the same procedure as I did with the first. This is what it looked like when I was done.
Finally, I put the 3M Rubbing Compound on the orange pad and smeared it around the lens. Then using the pad, I rubbed the headlight lens until it was clear and wiped the lens clean with a microfiber cloth.
Wow! It looks great! The final steps were to remove the automotive safe masking tape and close the hood. The kit was so easy to use and the results were amazing! There is a pamphlet of detailed, step-by-step instructions included in the kit.
Besides receiving the 3M™ Headlight Lens Restoration System, I also received all of the fun products! Would you like to get clearer headlights that will aid in safer driving during the holiday and school season? Check out this mail in rebate and this giveaway:

  8. I drive a 1994 Jeep Cherokee that was bought at a police auction. My headlights were so bad, they barely shines! One finally died on us, so Hubby replaced it, but the other is so bad! It would be nice to win this, so I wouldn’t feel like I need to replace the other one! If I don’t win, I’ll have to go get this kit myself!
Thank you for this wonderful giveaway! Even if I don’t win, I learned there is something that will work without me buying a new headlight.

  9. This looks like an excellent product. My husband would love to have cleaner headlights on his car.

  10. I’ve actually used this product and it’s AMAZING! I’d love to win so my husband can do some clean-up on his car ;)

  11. This is a great kit and what a great job it did. The reason why I would really love to win this is because both hubby and myself have a heard time seeing at night. He is uaully on his way to work before dawn and I usually get home after sunset. The only way that we have found to be able to see at night is to get extra bright bulbs, but that hurts the oncoming cars vision. It also stops being effective if the head light covers are bad. Thank you
