Want some mini jack ‘o lanterns for around the house?
Try using an orange (or in this case a tangerine) instead of a mini pumpkin!

This is going to be another one of those technical, hard to follow tutorials…just kidding! It is actually another one of those where you don’t even need a tutorial!

Cut off the top. I used a craft knife because it has a thin blade and is easy to maneuver.

Scoop out the insides.

Draw a face. After drawing the face with a black permanent marker, I used the craft knife to do the carving. I thought about doing the carving before removing the inside of the tangerine because of how thin the peel is but I wasn’t sure how big of a mess it would make.

I suggest using a flameless candle inside so that the peel doesn’t burn!

Thanks Lyuba…I hope you do!
Very cute idea! And I received my Kit Kats this morning. Thank You!
Yay! I hope they weren’t melted like the ones that were sent to another winner who lives in North Carolina!
what a good idea to use tangerines for mini pumpkin look alikes
easier to carve than an actual small pumpkin too I am sure!
Yes, it was way easier to carve! I actually had to be careful because the peel cut so easily!
That is super cute! Great idea too, I have been lamenting that I don’t have enough mini pumpkins for some tabletops and decorations I want to do for Thanksgiving, and oranges will be a perfect substitution! Thanks for the inspirations!
Jenna
