Last Friday night we got together with some friends and carved pumpkins! My husband’s brother and his family moved back to Minnesota and decided to carry on their tradition from their previous home of hosting a pumpkin carving party. We had such a fun evening! There were 32 people of all ages at the party but we didn’t get a picture of all the finished pumpkins. This is how my family’s pumpkins turned out.

Before going to the party, I made some dipped Oreos. I wanted to dip them in orange candy melts but I couldn’t find them at Walmart and I didn’t have time to go to another store. So, I dipped them in chocolate and drizzled on some orange frosting.

After dipping the cookies, I realized we didn’t have much time left before we had to leave! Luckily, I had purchased Tyson Chicken Bacon Club Stuffed Mini Bread Bowls on Thursday so I made them for dinner. I went to Walmart with Vanessa and Zack to visit the Tyson Stuffed Mini Bread Bowls demo. Unfortunately, they were unable to do the sampling because their store did not receive the chicken broccoli flavor but we were able to buy the chicken bacon club flavor. You can see more about our shopping trip in my Google+ Album and be sure to stop by the demo at your Walmart to sample the Tyson bread bowls!

I grabbed the box to see what temperature I needed to set the oven to and was delighted to discover that these bread bowls are microwavable! Our dinner was ready in minutes!

I sliced apples and carrot sticks to go with the bread bowls. They were delicious! The bread bowl was soft and the inside was warm and filling. My family really enjoyed them and they were amazed at how simple they were to make.

After eating our quick dinner, we headed to the party. Each family brought fun treats to share. This is only some of the desserts and of course there was hot apple cider to drink.

Then, we headed outside to carve pumpkins on the patio near the bonfire that my brother-in-law started. It was dark out but we had lights to help us see. I asked my husband and kids to try to save their pumpkin seeds so that we could roast them. We used knives, those little pumpkin saws and an X-ACTO knife for carving.
My pumpkin is the lantern on the lower right but you probably guessed that after the pictures I posted last week. I fashioned it after one from Better Homes and Gardens. It took way longer to carve than I thought it would but I like how it turned out!

Hi, I'm Tonia from The Gunny Sack! As a wife and mother of three, I enjoy cooking, creating and capturing it all with my camera! Coffee, with a little chocolate now and then, keeps me happy.

Fun party! I have had the breakfast bowls but not this kind – they look really good!
I am going to have to try to find some of the breakfast bowls. I didn’t notice them at the store I went to but maybe a different store in my area will have them!
What a fabulous party! You always have the best party ideas! I love how your pumpkins turned out & those desserts look amazing! Hope you are having a great week, friend!

Those caramel apples look so yummy!
They were sooo delicious! Now that I think about it, we haven’t made caramel apples yet this fall! I need to do that with my kids!
Tonia what a fun post! You packed a lot in to that, from carving to treats to a bonfire to dinner! All of it looked good to me. Your pumpkin is really cool and I love that skeleton one too!
Thanks Danni! My husband did the skeleton one.
Ooh I loved dipped Oreos! Yum! The pumpkin carving party looks like it was a lot of fun. And yes, quick microwave foods are great in a pinch!
I know! I love them too…as if regular Oreos weren’t sugary enough!
That looks like such a fun party! Why haven’t we had a pumpkin carving party yet, I don’t know

I love your pumpkins. We painted pumpkins last night {since my kids are too young to carve} and I can’t wait to see how they turned out.
