Family meals were an everyday occasion when I was growing up. I am from a large family and we would eat together while we visited about our days. It really help us to all stay connected to one another. Have you ever checked out the research on having family meals? Here are a few facts from Kid’s Health:
  • Shared family meals are more likely to be nutritious.
  • Kids who eat regularly with their families are less likely to snack on unhealthy foods and more likely to eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Teens who take part in regular family meals are less likely to smoke, drink alcohol, or use marijuana and other drugs, and are more likely to have healthier diets as adults, studies have shown.
Pretty important stuff! We’ve tried to continue the family meal tradition in our family and have meals together most nights. Another everyday occasion was having Lipton iced tea. I’ll bet if you stopped by my parents house right now you would find Lipton Iced Tea Mix in her pantry! I’ve tried to keep iced tea mix in my pantry as well and am really excited because I recently discovered some new iced tea mixes called Lipton Tea & Honey!

When I was shopping at Walmart last week, I found 3 different flavors of Lipton Tea & Honey: Blackberry Pomegranate, Mango Pineapple and Lemon. Each pitcher packet has enough powder for making 1 liter of iced tea. Over the last week, we had the opportunity to try it several different times. First, we drank some Mango Pineapple with our chicken and rice dinner, as you can see in the picture at the top of the post. Then, when some friends came over for the evening, we made the Blackberry Pomegranate flavor. The Lipton Tea & Honey iced tea mix was perfect because our friends came over last minute and I just happened to have this on hand to serve with a snack. It was super quick and easy to make.

My friend was SO impressed by the Lipton Tea & Honey iced tea mixes because they are made with real ingredients. There are only 5 calories per serving. It is sweetened with honey and contains no aspartame! All of the kids loved the iced tea as well and we used 4 of the pitcher packets in one evening!

When I purchased the Lipton Tea & Honey, I also purchased the ingredients for a family meal. I wanted to make something that everyone liked but I wanted it to be somewhat healthy. Everyone loves pizza so instead of buying a frozen pizza, I made semi-homemade pizzas and served it with a garden salad.

We had one pepperoni pizza and one chicken Alfredo pizza.

I made the Mango Pomegranate Lipton Tea & Honey to go with our pizza dinner. We had three extra kids over for the pizza dinner and they all wanted more than one glass of the iced tea! Suffice it to say, this iced tea is a big hit at our house!
