What’s In The Gunny Sack? Link Party #65

Did you realize that there is less than one month until Christmas? Yikes! I wish I was like some of you who already have all of your gifts purchased already! It is going to be a busy month trying to get it all done! How was your weekend? Mine wasn’t so great. My daughter’s car broke down last week and we are waiting for the part to arrive so my husband can fix it. Then on Friday, my car broke down in a major way and it isn’t good. After that my weekend just continued to go downhill. You know how that goes? I had a craft fail. I deleted my “follow me” buttons from my blog accidentally. Our friends who were planning to come over on Sunday got sick kids and so on and so forth. Finally, I just went to bed to wait for the weekend to end!

But today is a new day and the start of a new week! I hope that things go uphill from here and I realize that I have so much to be thankful for! We have our health, family, food and shelter! I am going to be volunteering at Feed My Starving Children today with my daughter (in our borrowed vehicle) and 3 girls from her school. We will be packaging small pouches of food that will be sent around the world to countries that are in need. This is our second time volunteering at FMSC. In the collage above are a few pictures from the last time we went.

“The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.” ~Gordon B. Hinckley

Thank you to everyone who joined the party last week! I enjoyed looking at your posts. Here are the links I am featuring from last week’s party:

Oh my goodness, Tonia! So sorry about all these things going wrong. And I LOVE that quote by President Hinkley {I had not heard it before}. So good. A phrase that keeps circulating in our family lately is “These are first-world problems” – I think it means that we are so blessed that even when our problems seem significant, they are small in comparison with a lot of people in the world. I hope a really pretty rainbow follows your storm!

Thanks for including our paper mache trees in your features! But, I am sorry you had such a cruddy weekend… Hope you get good news about your car. We recently had to replace the transmission on my hubbys truck and that really $tung. Though we were lucky to find a repair shop that let us pay for the work in 3 installments…
