This Anthropologie knockoff charmed hair tie tutorial is similar to my Anthropologie Knockoff Multitude Headband Tutorial. Both tutorials use fold over elastic and by making them yourself you save money!
I spotted these Anthropologie Charmed Hair Ties on the Anthropologie website. They are $24.00 for a set of three. The charmed hair ties are the same thing as the multitude headbands except they are smaller and they have jewels on them.
I cut the fold over elastic into 11 1/2 inch pieces. I have thick hair and need the hair ties to be able to wrap around a couple of times. If you have thinner hair or are making these for a child, you could probably use smaller pieces of fold over elastic.
I gathered some beads and a rhinestone pin to use as charms. The rhinestone pin was part of the David Tutera package I received for this post.
Thread the elastic through the space between the pin and the rhinestone piece.
Thread the elastic through the ring shaped jewel.
Fold the elastic in half and in half again to get it to thread through smaller bead openings.
Slide the beads and gems to the center of the piece of fold over elastic and tie a knot in the ends.

Do you need to glue or stitch the beads so that they stay in the center?
Tonia says
The charms I used as holes in them so I could just thread the elastic through them. If your’s don’t you might have better luck with stitching them on than you would with gluing since the elastic is so stretchy it might pull the glue apart, if that makes sense. Best of luck! ~Tonia

Do you have any suggestions for where to buy pretty beads. I really love the one you used with the turquoise “gems”.
Tonia says
Hi Sam! I’m not into beading so I don’t know much about what is available out there. I was planning on going to Joann Fabrics to buy something like these Mix and Mingle Beads: http://www.joann.com/mix-and-mingle-glass-metal-lined-beads-aqua-and-white/zprd_10939569a/ But when I went to Goodwill, I happened to find these beads/gems on necklaces! So that would be another place you could look for unique beads.

Thanks for the tip Tonia. I hadn’t even thought to check Goodwill-that’s an excellent suggestion.
BTW, I’m very happy to have found your site!
