How many more weeks of summer break do your kids have? I know lots of kids go back to school in August.  Mine are lucky because they don’t start until September! No matter when they start, back-to-school is on the mind! It is a crazy but fun time of the year. I keep back to school checklists but it feels like the list of things to get done is endless. First, there are all of the things that we didn’t find time to do over the summer. We spend the last couple of weeks trying to cram it all in. We still need to visit a waterpark, ride go carts, go tubing, go fishing, go camping and visit our friends in South Dakota.

Next comes the school supplies. Is it just me or does the list seem to get longer each year? We’ve already purchased most of the school supplies on Vanessa’s list and some of the supplies on Zack’s list. Elmer’s products are included every year! The school supply list usually asks specifically for Elmer’s brand glue because it works the best! Christine is a high school junior but she will be starting college this year! I’m not sure what supplies she is going to need but all three of my kids love shopping for new school supplies. They aren’t ready for school to start yet but they do like getting new supplies.

After school supplies comes school clothes.  This is my kids favorite part of back to school! They love getting new clothes! But before going shopping, I go through my kid’s closets with them to figure out what clothes they already have that still fit and are still in a good condition. Then, we figure out what items they still need such as a blue shirt to go with a certain pair of pants. We’ve already done some shopping at Cookie’s Kids and Zack has several items in mind for the next online shopping trip.  Another one of the stores we visit every year at back to school time is Sears!  We always seem to find great deals there and Sear’s Style is a great online resource!

We will also have to buy backpacks, lunch bags and of course there is always food to buy. I like to stock up on individual-sized lunch and snack items so that it is easier to make lunches. I buy these items in bulk to help save money. I also like to have after school snacks on hand. My kids are usually really hungry when they get home and I want them to eat a tasty, yet filling snack. And when the schedules get busy with homework and activities, I like to have some easy meals on hand! Tyson chicken nuggets are perfect for both of those things!

I’ll be buying a few brands from the guide. Elmer’s of course for crafts, and my boys practically live on Tyson.
