This Bacon Cheddar Pizza Chicken Sandwich grilling recipe is easy to make and so delicious! Your family will love these pizza burgers. Sponsored by Gold’n Plump. All opinions are my own.
We just got back from a family road trip! We went to Spearfish, SD and Sheridan, WY. Between visits with family and friends, we went to Mount Rushmore, Devil’s Tower and the Bighorn National Forest. We had such a wonderful time and now that we are back, I am excited to share a new recipe with you.
Before we left, I made Bacon Cheddar Pizza Chicken Sandwiches. The sandwich is a combination of two of my favorite things: pizza and chicken. Then throw some bacon and cheese into the mix and the sandwich becomes outstanding!
The sandwiches are made with Gold’n Plump Chicken Patties. When I told one of my friends about how good they are, she told me, “Yeah, we love those chicken patties! We’ve been grilling the original ones for years!” Now, Gold’n Plump introduced two new flavors, just in time for grilling season: Bacon & Cheddar and Mushroom & Swiss.
There are six burger patties in each 32 oz package and they have an increased size of 1/3 lb, making them perfect for a regular bun. Gold’n Plump Chicken Patties are made from premium quality all natural boneless skinless chicken thighs and have 50% less fat than ground beef making them a healthier burger alternative. The Bacon & Cheddar Chicken Patties were used to make these pizza burgers.
I think that burgers taste even better when the bun is toasted. Instead of using buns for these sandwiches, I used toasted Italian bread. Cut a loaf of rustic Italian bread into slices, spread with butter and sprinkle with Parmesan, garlic and Italian seasoning.
Heat the grill to high heat on one side and medium on the other side. Place the seasoned bread over the medium heat and the chicken patties over the high heat. Toast the bread, turning often, for 5-7 minutes or until golden.
Gold’n Plump Chicken Patties are vacuum packed and there is no need to thaw them before cooking. That is so convenient because I always forget to thaw my meat and suddenly it is dinner time. I placed the frozen chicken patties right on the grill. You can see the real bacon and the melting cheddar cheese!
Grill the chicken patties over high heat for 9-11 minutes, turning occasionally.
Place a grilled chicken patty on a slice of the toasted bread. Top it with pizza sauce, a large slice of mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices and a sprinkle of oregano.
Top with a second slice of bread and enjoy!
The sandwiches were fabulous. The chicken was tender, juicy and we loved the combination of flavors.
