Give Mom a visual reminder of you and your family.
Every time mom sees the magnets she will think of you.
You can make one of your hometown like this magnet of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Gather Glass Beads (I bought these at the dollar store), a map, Mod Podge, magnets, glue, a pencil and scissors.
If you have a map you can cut it up, if not print on from online. Let’s say your family used to vacation in Hilton Head every summer. You can print the map from online. I used Bing Maps and then used an online photo editing site to increase the contrast and the color saturation.
Place the glass bead over the area you want to show. Trace the glass bead onto the map.
Cut the map circle out on the inside of your tracing lines. Then, check to see if you need to trim more off.
Paint the Mod Podge onto the back of the glass bead. Stick the map circle, face down, on the glue and use a squeegee to make sure it is attached securely and to get any excess glue out.
Put a dot of hot glue onto the back of the glass bead.
Press the magnet into the glue.
You can even make a magnet of the cul-de-sac you grew up on like this one of the Glacier Bay cul-de-sac. Just choose Bird’s Eye view on Bing Maps.
Cut into pieces and enjoy!
