We’ve had some strange weather this week in Minnesota. The temperatures went from highs in the eighties down to highs in the forties! The cooler weather means it is time for fall flowers and for planting bulbs. I love it when the bulbs start peeking up in the spring. We have lots of tulips in our yard from the previous owners but I want to get a bigger variety of flowers. I love looking at the flowers from my windows and I love how they look when I pull up to our house. Plus, the flowers from bulbs look great in a vase in my house! So, I went to the Curbside Chaos website and used the Garden Guru tool to help find the perfect bulbs for my area. It is an easy 4 step process:

Step 1 – Pick your Country
Step 2 – Pick your location within that Country
Step 3 – Choose the type of bulb you want to grow
Step 4 – Check out the Planting Guide that shows you how to plant your bulbs

The planting guide suggested I plant Allium, Muscari, Chionodoxa and Hyacinths.

So, I clicked on hyacinths and a page of tips and how-to showed up! It looks like I can start planting anytime now since it is after September 23 and we’ve been having cold weather. This looks simple enough! I am not a gardener but I can do this! I can related to Marcy from the “Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done.” website because she is also a busy mom of 3 kids who loves the simplicity of bulbs. I had my kids help me plant bulbs at our previous home like Marcy did and would like to do it again this fall. It is a great way for them to get outside and experience how things grow.

While on the Curbside Chaos website, I also checked out this video about Ruth, the winner of the $5,000 yard makeover! Taniya Nayak and “Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done.” helped Ruth and her family makeover their backyard! Oh, if I were only so lucky! If I won a $5,000 yard makeover would love to have a built in fire pit, tons of flowers and new grass in my yard. You can visit www.digdropdone.com to learn more and to see the other entries. Speaking of makeovers, “Bulbs. Dig, Drop, Done.” will donate $1.00 to Rebuilding Together (a nonprofit that works to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities) for every share on Twitter that uses the hashtag #CurbsideChaos!
