When I think about small businesses, the city of Waconia, Minnesota comes to mind. We lived in Waconia for almost 7 years of our married life! When we first thought about building a home in Waconia, it felt like it was too “small town” and too far from everything. But once we moved there, we loved it! Although we no longer live in Waconia, many of my favorite small businesses are still located there. This video showcases some of the shops I love and there are other Waconia businesses that aren’t included in this video. My very favorite fettuccini alfredo is from a restaurant called D’Vinci’s. Their menu describes it as: Pasta tossed with a heavy parmesan cheese sauce, then baked. Finished by covering with melted mozzarella. I’ve eaten fettuccini alfredo at many, many restaurants and I haven’t found one better than D’Vinci’s! Another business is called Dueber’s Department Store and people like to say, “If you can’t find it at Dueber’s, then you don’t need it!” They have everything from clothing and to fabric to food and electronics. My grandmother loved shopping at Dueber’s. She could get everything on her list and she love the small feel of the store. Although most of you will never visit this small town and shop at one of these small businesses, I’m sure you can think of a place in your area that is like Waconia where people are passionate about the business and their town!
What are some of your favorite small businesses?
