This apple crisp recipe is fall comfort food at its best, featuring tender, sweet apples and a crispy, crumbly topping, and is served warm over ice cream with caramel sauce!
Add the dry ingredients to a bowl and stir them until they are combined. Then set them aside for now.
Next, cut the butter into the dry ingredients and stir until coated. To make this easier we usually cut the cold butter into smaller pieces.
Use a pastry blender or two knives (or even your hands) to cut in the butter into even smaller pieces. Set the crumb topping aside.
To make this apple crisp, you’ll need several cups of diced apples depending on how thick you want the crisp to be. It can be a lot of apples to peel and slice! If you have an apple peeler and corer it makes the job easier!
Next, you'll add the sugars, flour, and spices to the diced apples and stir to coat them.
Spread the apples in a 9×13 pan.
Spread the crumb coating evenly over the diced apples.
Bake the apple crisp until the apples are tender, and the crumb topping is golden.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel!
