Ingredients

  • 4 oz chocolate melting wafers See Note 1
  • Cooking Spray
  • 1 oz bag edible grass See Note 2
  • Candy for filling nests

Instructions

  • Grease the inside of four small bowls (4 oz size - 3 ⅓ in wide) with cooking spray and cover them with plastic wrap. Set aside.
  • Melt chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl at 50% power for 30 seconds. Stir and return them in the microwave in 10-second intervals, stirring after each time, until smooth.
  • Transfer the melted chocolate to a pastry bag. Snip off the tip and drizzle the chocolate over the plastic-wrapped bowl.
  • Scrape the excess off of the rim of the bowl and allow the chocolate to harden.
  • Remove the plastic wrap coated with chocolate from the bowl, and then slowly peel the plastic wrap away from the chocolate.

Notes

Note 1: Colorful Easter Nests

To make colorful nests, follow the same steps listed for the chocolate ones, this time using melting wafers of various colors. For a pastel look, add some white candy wafers to each bowl to lessen the saturation.

Note 2: Edible Easter Grass

We used store-bought edible grass but you can use coconut to make your own. To make edible Easter grass, put 1 cup of sweetened coconut flakes, 1/2 teaspoon of water, and a few drops of food coloring in a zip-top bag. Shake the bag until the flakes are evenly colored. Repeat for darker colors.

Note 3: Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the freezer.
