Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups honey
  • 1 tablespoon dried crushed red peppers* or use 2 tablespoon for more heat
  • 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  • Pour the hot honey into a saucepan and add the crushed red peppers (use one tablespoon for less heat or use two tablespoons for more intense heat).
adding crushed red peppers to saucepan
  • Warm over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, to infuse the honey. Do not boil. If bubbles start forming around the edges, remove it from the heat for a while.

  • Remove from heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar.
adding apple cider vinegar to the saucepan
  • Strain the honey to remove the crushed red peppers. (You can also opt to leave them in so that they will add even more heat over time.)

Notes

*The fresher the jar of crushed red peppers, the hotter the honey will be. As crushed red peppers get older the red color will darken and they will be less potent.
