Zippers are everywhere these days!
I have been making flowers out of zippers and putting them on headbands. I will show you how I have been making them.
Start with a zipper (the length of the zipper will determine the size of the flower). I cut this one from a hoodie. Cut the stop at the bottom off. Unzip the zipper and remove the tab. I left the stop at the top intact.
Cut the fabric part of the zipper leaving a small amount of the fabric (about 1/4 inch).
Start the flower by curling the end as tightly as you can, back on itself.
Using a hot glue gun put a line of glue along the edge of the metal zipper teeth and fabric. Continue to curl the zipper so it sticks in the hot glue.
Continue gluing and curling
Until you get to the end and you now have a flower.
The back is unfinished.
Using the zipper flower as a pattern, trace and cut a circle of felt. Put a line of hot glue across the back of the zipper flower and stick the headband in the glue. Then, cover the felt circle with hot glue and place it over the back of the zipper flower and headband. Or if you prefer, just attach the felt piece and use the flower in another way.
Grab another zipper and soon you will have your own little collection!
