Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans washed and trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon
  • teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400˚F. Spread the green beans on a large rimmed sheet pan.
  • Cut four slices of bacon into small pieces and add them to the green beans on the sheet pan.
  • Bake at 400° for 25-30 minutes, until tender and browned, stirring every 5 minutes so that the green beans are coated in bacon grease. (You can cook it longer to brown it more, but watch it carefully so that it doesn't burn.)
  • Season with pepper (and salt, if desired.)

Notes

One: Frozen Green Beans

You can use frozen green beans instead of fresh. They can be thawed first if you want to speed up the time in the oven. Otherwise, put them into the oven frozen and roast at 400˚F until tender and brown.

Two: Garlic Roasted Green Beans

Skip the bacon, coat the beans with two tablespoons of olive oil, and add two cloves of minced garlic. Roast as directed in the recipe.

Three: Storage

Store the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
