Ingredients

Instructions

  • Pour the fractionated coconut oil and sweet almond oil into a bowl.
  • Stir in the sugar, one cup at a time.
  • Divide the mixture between three bowls. Add the scents and colors as shown below.
  • Fill test tubes (or mason jars) with red, white and blue sugar scrub.

Red Raspberry Sugar Scrub

  • Stir in Raspberry Loranne Oil and blue soap colorant. I used 2 bottles of oil and about ¼ of the bottle of soap colorant.

Lime Sugar Scrub

  • Stir in Lime Loranne Oil. I used 1 bottle of oil and the lime layer remains white.

Cherry Sugar Scrub

  • Stir in Cherry Loranne Oil and red soap colorant. I used 1 bottle of oil and about ¼ of the bottle of soap colorant.

Notes

Okay, now for the safety warnings, disclaimers, and other notes:
  • The test tubes are glass and therefore breakable. Take caution when using with wet hands and keep out of reach of children.
  • Since the craft stick handle is small, thin and held in place with hot glue, it is not sturdy. The handle is more about looks than it is about being a handle.
  • The sugar scrub has coconut oil in it and the cork can get slippery and slide out. Again, do not use the craft stick/cork as a handle.
  • Yes, artificial coloring was used to make the sugar scrub. Yes, artificial colors, in concentrated amounts, can stain skin. That being said, I’ve yet to have my hands stained by any of my colored sugar scrubs. If you prefer, you can make the sugar scrub without the colors.
  • If using in the shower or bathtub, be careful because bath products containing oil can make it slippery.
  • I would suggest that this sugar scrub be used within one month of it being made.
  • LorAnn Oil and soap colorant are available at craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
  • The number of test tubes needed depends on the size of the test tubes you purchase. These test tubes held about 1/4 cup each. The recipe makes 3 cups of sugar scrub, so that would be 12 test tubes.
