Fluffy Buttercream Frosting
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ½ cup vegetable shortening
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup marshmallow cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon food coloring use more as needed
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Brown the butter in a saucepan, pour into a large bowl, and allow it to cool to room temp.
Mix baking soda and water together and set aside.
Cream together butter, shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
Stir in the baking soda and water mixture and the salt.
Add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Spread batter in a greased jelly roll pan.
Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes. Do not overbake.
Allow the bars to cool completely before adding the buttercream frosting.
Fluffy Buttercream Frosting
Beat together butter and shortening until smooth.
Beat in the marshmallow cream.
Mix in the powdered sugar, one cup at a time.
Beat in the milk and vanilla extract until fluffy.
Stir in the food coloring.
