I wanted to give an update on giving this Christmas season. Last week I showed you my iGive Tickets and explained that we were involved in the Champions For Kids Simple Service Project this Christmas.
My kids chose an iGive Ticket and Vanessa got “Put Out A Tasty Treat For Birds”. This was the perfect one for her to get because she loves animals and being outdoors.
We made bird seed ornaments to put out for the birds. She can’t wait to see if they come to eat what she put out. I would share my recipe but it didn’t hold together very well and she ended up laying the ornaments in the trees.
Vanessa took her giving idea a bit further by cleaning out the bird bath and refilling it. She also made a nesting bag. We are not sure if the birds need the nesting material at this time of the year but it was a fun project anyway. She used a mesh bag from a toy and filled it with batting, dryer lint, ribbon, yarn, straw, hair and string. Then, put a string around the top and hung it in a tree.
Zack got the scratch off “Choose Toys To Give To Others”. So, he was the one who got to do the Champions For Kids Simple Service Project: Disney Stocking Stuffer Celebration. Our evenings have been too busy to run to the store, so I purchased the gifts from Walmart while he was at school.
Zack filled the gift bag with all of the great Disney Cars items. He was excited to give it away! #CBias #DisneyCFK
Our plan was to give the gift to Toys For Tots. I had glanced at their website and it said the last day for giving was December 22nd. But when I went to look for a specific location to drop the gift off at, I discovered that the last day for drop off was actually December 19th and the last day for online cash donations was December 22nd. So, we had to come up with a new plan. I remembered a local family who has been having a difficult time. The dad of the family has been dealing with multiple health issues and has been unable to work. They have a son who is the perfect age for Disney Cars toys. Zack gave him the gift and the boy was delighted! I did not take a picture of him to keep the family’s privacy but you can imagine his joy and huge smile! I asked Zack how he felt about being involved and he said it was fun and it made him happy.
