Brown Butter Brownies

Peppemint Buttercream Frosting

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup marshmallow cream
  • 3-4 tablespoon milk

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup marshmallow cream
  • 3-4 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  • Brown Butter Brownies
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 9x13 pan.
  • Brown butter in a saucepan.
  • Pour into a large bowl. Stir in sugar and vanilla.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  • Mix in cocoa powder.
  • Add flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Pour into pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
  • Peppermint Buttercream Frosting
  • Beat shortening and butter until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in peppermint extract.
  • Add sugar one cup at a time.
  • Add marshmallow cream and milk. Beat until light and fluffy.
  • Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
  • Sift together the cocoa powder and the powdered sugar. Set aside.
  • Beat shortening and butter until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in vanilla extract.
  • Add sugar/cocoa powder mixture one cup at a time.
  • Add marshmallow cream and milk. Beat until light and fluffy.
