    No Bake Nutella Bars Stack

We’ve had a few days of cool weather and it felt like autumn! But it’s supposed to get hot again, so I’m sharing another no bake recipe today because we need sweets and we don’t need the oven on. Today’s recipe came about by accident.

When I made the Ooey Gooey S’mores Bars, I made too much of the Nutella base layer and wasn’t sure what to do with it. Since that crust is very similar to the recipes for no bake peanut butter cup bars, I thought, why not make No Bake Nutella Bars instead. But, before we get started on the recipe, I want to talk about bats!

    nutella bars dough in mixer

To make the No Bake Nutella Bars, mix together graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, powdered sugar and Nutella.

    flatten nutella bars

Press the dough into a foil lined, greased eight inch square pan.

    spread chocolate over bars

Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave and stir in Nutella. Spread the chocolate frosting over the bottom layer.

    No Bake Nutella Bars sliced

Cover the bars and cool them in the refrigerator. Cut into bars before serving. This No Bake Nutella Bars recipe is so easy to make. The texture of these bars is similar to peanut butter cups and everyone loved them!

Can’t wait to get all the ingredients to try these!
To make gluten free/ wheat free, just use Honey Nut Cheerios instead of the graham crackers.

      Hello
If I use digestive biscuits instead of graham crackers…should I use the same amount of powdered sugar? More or less?

        Hi Raina,
I don’t have any experience using digestive biscuits but it appears that they have a little less sugar than graham crackers so you may need to add a couple of tablespoons of powdered sugar.
        Best of luck,
        Tonia

What can substitute the chocolate chips? I have all the ingredients except those and don’t want to make a store run just for chocolate chips.

Hi! This recipe looks fantastic and so easy to make and I had been searching the Internet for something fairly quick to make (because I can be a lazy kid) for a food photography assignment. I have a question though – can I use oreos instead of graham crackers? It’s a little hard to find them where I live. And can regular sugar be used instead of powdered sugar?

      Thank you!

        Hi Yamin,
You could probably use Oreos but I don’t think regular sugar would work instead of powdered sugar.
        Best of luck!

It works just fine with regular sugar as well (I have tried it multiple times), but the result is definitely thicker and more gritty than when powdered sugar is used. I actually prefer the gritty texture of regular sugar to the smooth texture of powdered sugar, but they are both lovely. These bars are absolutely amazing and you really can’t go wrong as long as you have Nutella in there! 🙂

Is powdered sugar necessary? What will happen if I omit it?

You would have to substitute it with another dry ingredient since there is 1 cup of it.

Aren’t bats lovely? I’m with you on staying as far from them as possible. When I was younger it was scared into my head that they would get tangled in hair. We’ve had a bat twice. Both times it snuck in through an opening (air conditioner and open door). One bat we had tested for rabies. Thankfully it was negative. So this may be a one time thing for you. You might not actually have bats in your belfry. Good luck!

Thanks, Anita! I’m wondering if it has to do with an open door. Both Zack and Brian were going in and out getting the mower ready, getting more gas and whatnot. It was right at dusk when the bats start flying around. I’m not sure that someone didn’t leave a door open for awhile.

How many cups of graham cracker crumbs are you using for the base? We can buy graham cracker crumbs in a box here as well as Oreo chocolate cookie crumbs for baking, and not have to crush them ourselves, which is really handy. Thanks.

I think this sounds easy and delicious. do you think peanutbutter could be switched with the nutella?

do you know where the bats are before visiting your home? perhaps, you could put up a bat house in an area away from your home. or, if you have various ways into your home that small critters can find, try to cover them up.

Yes! You can use peanut butter instead of Nutella. I’m not sure where the bats are living. I’ve read online that you can sit outside your house with several people surrounding it at sunset to see where the bats are coming from. We might have to try that. Thanks, Alma!
