York Mint Magic Bars are easy to make with a mix cake crust. This cookie bars recipe is sweet and gooey with a bit of crunchy mint on top.

York Mint Magic BarsUnfortunately, it has gotten cold here in Minnesota…like really cold…like record breaking cold…like cold we haven’t seen since the 1990’s back when Christine was born! Last night, the low temp was -26 degrees and today’s high is -13 degrees. That isn’t the worst part though. Along with the low temps and blowing wind, comes windchill which could reach -50 degrees meaning that you can get frostbite within 5-10 minutes.

The kids are delighted because the governor canceled school. And, to go along with the chilly weather, I made some blue and white York Mint Magic Bars…a cool treat for your mouth. Okay, that was cheesy but the bars really are good and the best part is that they are easy to make!

Pour sweetened condensed milk over batterMix together a cake mix, a stick of softened butter and an egg. Pat it down in a greased 9×13″ pan. Pour a bag of York Pieces over the top and sprinkle with white chocolate chips. Drizzle can of sweetened condensed milk over the top of everything before baking at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

M&M's Magic BarsAllow the bars to cool before cutting into squares.

Those bars sounds delicious. Too bad, I can’t find half of the ingredients here in Norway. ๐Ÿ™
I better have my sisters send me some of them! ๐Ÿ™‚
Oh, yeah – I read in the Swedish and Norwegian news about the cold weather over there. Brrrr… Even colder than up here, in northern Norway!
The year I went to school, as an exchange student, in Mpls (Brooklyn Park) we had no snow days at all. That was in 97-98. But I remember that my brother told me that it was super cold in Mpls the year before; 96-97. (He was in Mpls the Christmas of 96.)

Hope you will all stay safe and warm! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow! We are even colder than you? I hope to visit Lapland someday. We live in the Minneapolis area so I think it is really neat that you went to school here. My kids are going a little stir crazy but they are happy to have a couple of days off.

I sent you an e-mail… ๐Ÿ™‚ but, yeah – too cold winters and restless kids is no good combination!
My kids are too young to go out alone though…. Son is 18 months and baby girl is 7 months. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, even though 16 yrs have passed since I left Mpls – I still miss the area and old friends. But, hehe, I think most of my old friends have either moved out west or moved to Scandinavia! ๐Ÿ™‚
        Welcome to Lapland anytime! ๐Ÿ™‚
