bowls containing sour cream dip, lime wedges, and cilantro

We were invited to a barbecue at our good friend’s house on Saturday evening. I wanted to bring something to share so I decided to bring sweet potato fries and a dipping sauce for them!

I am fairly new to eating sweet potato fries and wasn’t quite sure what kinds of dips would go well with them. So, I did some research online and found that the choices are endless! There was everything from ketchup to cinnamon sprinkled with yogurt dip to sour cream dips.

    limes and cilantro

Lately I have been craving cilantro so I decided to make a dip that included cilantro, cumin and lime…a combination of some of the ones I found online!

    To make the dip:
Put 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/4 cup mayonnaise in a bowl.

    cilantro in a bowl

Rinse and chop a small bunch of fresh cilantro.
Measure 2 teaspoon of the chopped cilantro into the bowl.

    sliced limes in a bowl

Cut a lime into sections and squeeze out 2 teaspoon lime juice and add to the bowl.

    sauce ingredients in a bowl

Add 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin, and 1/4 teaspoon salt to the bowl and mix all of the ingredients well.  Place dip in the fridge until ready to serve.

    dinner on a plate

At the barbecue, we ate sweet potato fries by with grilled chicken and asparagus. The fries and the dip were a big hit!

When my friend went to get some fries, she discovered that everyone had completely finished them off already!!  Even the kids loved them.

Holy cow. I tried this the other night after stumbling on your pizza bundles. I used more lime juice as we LOVE lime…and a bit more cilantro and it was phenomenal. My toddler eats like a bird but kept asking me for spoonfuls of “sour dip.” I tried it on the sweet potato fries, oven baked potato cubed, sauced a hamburger, and used it as a dip with fresh veggies. Thank you so much for an incredible twist on boring dips!

This sounds yummo but I do not like sweet potato fries. I know, I am probably very much alone in that category but I like me my potato fries….I just need to eat less of them…;)

This looks really good! I love sweet potato fries. I like to put them on a cookie sheet and drizzle them with olive oil. When they are cooked, I put salt, pepper, chili powder and sweetner on them. A little sweet with a kick!
