Steps for making air fryer pizza.

How To Make Air Fryer Pizza

    • Basket Size: Measure the basket on the inside of your air fryer before preheating it.
    • Dough: You can use homemade dough, a tube of refrigerated dough, a pre-baked crust, or flour tortillas. We also provide instructions for cooking frozen pizza below.
    • Toppings: Top the pizza crust with pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and sliced pepperoni. Or use your favorite toppings but don’t overload the pizza. We love the pepperoni on top of the cheese so that it gets crispy, but it doesn’t want to stay in place in the air fryer. So, press the pepperoni into the sauce to help them stay in place and check periodically to see if they need to be put back where they belong.
    • Bake: Preheat the air fryer before cooking the pizzas. The bake times will vary depending on your air fryer, which crust you choose, and your toppings.

    Homemade Crust

The homemade pizza dough crust was our favorite! The crust was chewy, and we were able to make four pizzas from one ball of dough.

    • Cut the ball of pizza dough into four equal pieces. Shape and roll one piece into a circle that will fit your air fryer basket.
    • Spray (or brush) one side of the dough with olive oil, and place it in a preheated air fryer oil side down. Lightly spray the top side with olive oil.
    • Bake the dough for five minutes. Spray it with more olive oil and then flip it over and spray the top side before adding toppings.
    • Top with pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and sliced pepperoni.
    • Bake the pizza for 5-6 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden.

    Refrigerated Dough

If you don’t have time to make pizza dough, you can use a tube of refrigerated dough. There are a few brands available at the grocery store. We tested this recipe with the classic crust. If you choose a thin crust dough, you may need to reduce the baking time.

    • Remove the refrigerated dough from the tube and unroll it. Cut the rectangle in half. Flatten one half into a square or circle.
    • Spray (or brush) the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the dough in a preheated air fryer and lightly spray the top side with olive oil.
    • Bake the dough for five minutes. Spray it with more olive oil and then flip it over and spray the top side before adding toppings.
    • Top with pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and pepperoni.
    • Bake the pizza for 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden.

    Pre-Baked Crust

Many grocery stores sell pre-baked pizza crusts, and they are a simple shortcut for making semi-homemade pizzas in an air fryer! The brands and quality vary, so you might have to try a few to find your favorite.

    • Spray (or brush) one side of the crust with olive oil and place it oil side down in the preheated air fryer.
    • Lightly spray the top side with oil and top it with pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and pepperoni slices.
    • Bake the pizza for 5-6 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is toasted.

    Flour Tortilla

Flour tortillas are a simple way to make a quick pizza. You can even store tortillas in the freezer so that you always have them on hand.

    • Lightly coat one side of a tortilla with olive oil and place it oil side down in the preheated air fryer.
    • Spray the top side with oil and top it with pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and sliced pepperoni.
    • Bake the tortilla pizza for 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy.

    Frozen Pizza

You can also make store-bought frozen pizzas in an air fryer as long as they are small enough to fit in the basket. There are several brands that make individual frozen pizzas. We tested a thin crust pizza so if you buy a deep dish version you’ll need to increase the baking time.

    • Remove the frozen pizza from the packaging and place it in the preheated air fryer.
    • Bake for 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is toasty.

    Make Ahead and Storage

    • Make Ahead: You can prepare the homemade dough ahead of time, prebake the crusts, or even prepare the pizzas and store them in the fridge or freezer.
    • Refrigerator: Wrap the dough, prebaked crusts, or prepared pizzas with plastic wrap and store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
    • Freezer: Wrap the dough, prebaked crusts, or prepared pizzas with plastic wrap and place them in a freezer bag. Store them in the freezer for up to two months. Bake frozen, homemade pizzas in a preheated air fryer for 5-6 minutes.
    • Reheating: You can reheat leftover pizza in an air fryer for 1-3 minutes, depending on the kind of pizza.
