If you are looking for a fall dish to share with family and friends, you’ve got to try this sweet and salty savory apple pecan dip!

    Tonia’s Notes

I wanted to make a creamy dip for fall that could be spread on crackers, but not a sweet dessert dip. So, I decided to try a combination of cream cheese and apple butter, even though I was unsure of how it would taste. I spread the apple pecan dip on Toasteds Harvest Wheat (highly recommend them for this dip) and fell in love at the first taste.

I’ve already made this dip a few times this season and always get rave reviews. My son told me that he didn’t expect such a complex flavor profile, and my sisters all said it was so good. Even my dad had to come back for seconds!

How To Make Apple Pecan Dip

    Step one button.

    Cream Cheese

First, take a block of softened cream and spread it out on a platter or plate. Use a wooden spoon or a sturdy knife to mash it down and then spread it out. You could also try whipped cream cheese for a different texture.

    Apple Butter

The apple butter adds a little sweetness and a lot of flavor. If you’ve never tried apple butter, it is kind of like a condensed applesauce, so it is thicker and more flavorful.

    Step three button.

    Pecans

We tried making this cream cheese apple butter dip with raw pecans, and it was good. Then we tried toasting and salting them, and it was fantastic! See how to toast pecans here.

    Step four button.

    Honey

We love this recipe with hot honey drizzled on top for the extra flavor it adds. But you can use regular honey if you prefer. I have a recipe for hot honey here, or you can buy it in the honey section of your grocery store.

    Recipe Tips

    • Plan Ahead: This apple pecan dip is best enjoyed soon after making it. If you prepare it too far in advance, the pecans start to soften. You can prep the recipe ahead of time by chopping and toasting the pecans (store in an airtight container) and spreading the softened cream cheese on a plate or platter (cover and store in the fridge).
    • Storage: Store the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
    • Variations: I think this would be so good with a flavored cream cheese like honey pecan and other types of spreads like pepper jelly.
