Wash and trim two pounds of asparagus and place on a rimmed baking sheet.

green vegetables on a metal pan

Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil, stir to coat, and spread out in a single layer.

    salt and pepper on asparagus

Sprinkle the asparagus with sea salt and black pepper. See below for more seasonings and flavor ideas.

Bake the asparagus in the oven for 10 minutes, remove it from the oven, and stir to flip the pieces over.

Remove the roasted asparagus from the oven after an additional 5-15 minutes, depending on how thick your pieces of asparagus are and how well you want it cooked. The asparagus in this blog post was roasted for 30 minutes.

What seasonings can I add to my roasted asparagus?

    • Parmesan Roasted Asparagus: Sprinkle 1/2 cup of grated parmesan over the asparagus after stirring halfway through cooking. Return to the oven to finish baking.
    • Lemon Pepper Asparagus: Slice one lemon in half. Squeeze the juice of half the lemon over the asparagus on the baking sheet. Cut the second half into slices and add to the baking sheet. Sprinkle the asparagus with additional black pepper. Cook as directed.
    • Garlic and Herb Asparagus: Add 2-3 cloves of minced garlic to the asparagus on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon parsley, 1/4 teaspoon oregano, and 1/4 teaspoon basil. Cook as directed.
