    Tonia’s Notes

I know some families who never snack, but we are a family of snackers! Crunchy, flavorful crackers and chips like this snack mix are our favorite.

We’ve already made this spicy Chex snack mix recipe multiple times, and it’s gone within a couple of days! I love that the recipe is so customizable, and one of these times, I’m going to try making it with only oyster crackers because they are my favorite part.

    How To Make

    Step one button.

    Stir Snack Mix

Pour the mini pretzel twists, oyster crackers, and rice Chex into a rimmed baking sheet and stir to combine.

    Step two button.

    Seasoned Oil

Whisk the butter-flavored oil, powdered ranch seasoning, Italian dressing mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Pour the mixture over the Chex mix. Stir for several minutes, scraping the oil off the pan and evenly distributing it over the pretzels, crackers, and Chex cereal.

Pour on the butter flavored oil and seasoning.
    Step three button.

    Bake

Bake the Chex mix at 220˚F for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through baking, scraping the oil off the pan and onto the spicy snack mix as needed.

    Recipe Tips

    • Storage: Store this ranch snack mix in an airtight bag at room temperature for 5-7 days.
    • Spiciness: To some, this spicy Chex mix recipe will be too spicy; to others, it will be the perfect amount of spice; and to some, it won’t be spicy enough. You can make it the right amount of spicy for your family by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
    • Butter Flavored Oil: We use Orville Redenbacher’s Butter Flavored Popcorn Oil to make this recipe, but you can use a combination of canola oil and melted butter if you prefer.
    • Snack Mix: You can use only one snack mix ingredient, such as all pretzels, oyster crackers, or rice Chex. Or add a different snack ingredient such as Cheerios, Cheezits, or bagel chips.
