    Recipe Tips

    1) I can’t find self-rising flour. Can I make myself? For one cup of self-rising flour, whisk together one cup of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt, but remember that results may vary!

    2) What brand of plain, nonfat Greek yogurt do you recommend? I always use Chobani or Fage. You can use whatever kind is available at your local grocery store, but some brands are more watery, so you’ll need to adjust accordingly.

    3) Do I have to use plain, fat-free, Greek yogurt for this recipe? No, but your results may vary. You can try using fat-free, full fat, 2% or 5%, but you may need to add a different amount of flour or make changes in the baking time.

    4) What should I do if my dough is too sticky? Knead in a little more flour at a time until it is workable.

    5) Can I make these pretzel bites without a stand mixer? Yes! Stir the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt together until combined. Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.

    6) How can I make these two ingredient dough pretzel nuggets WITHOUT a dough hook? Use the paddle attachment on your mixer to combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.

    7) What can I use INSTEAD of pretzel salt? You can use another coarse salt like kosher or sea salt.

    8) What other seasonings/toppings would you suggest? Try everything seasoning, garlic, parmesan, ranch or cinnamon sugar.

I’m not sure what pretzels anyone who likes these has ever had before but the one or two out of the 40 plus I made tasted absolutely awful. Totally bland, even with the butter and salt added. I followed the directions to a T. I had to throw away all of them. Don’t bother.

I love the idea of the quick & easy pretzel bite, but I’ve made these twice now and the consistency when you use 1C self rising flour with 1C plain fat free Greek yogurt is just off. Both times I ended up putting between 3/4 and 1 C of additional flour into the dough because it was so wet/sticky with just 1C (+2T) of flour. I’m not sure how so many others rated this so high, which implies they made it and it worked! Don’t want to knock this since it could be user error (although, honestly, what is there to mess up?) but for now I’ll stick with the traditional yeast & let rise methods.

I made these and they’re SO good 😭 My husband and son were huge fans. I made some cheese sauce to go with them, and it put them over the top.

I baked these almost double time and still a little underdone. Every bite stuck hard to the parchment. So frustrating 🙁

Do you let the boiling water and soda cool or use it hot

I usually use it right away but since it cools as you go it works both ways.

These worked out perfectly (I had to add more flour when kneading the dough). It was a big hit and everybody LOVED them! I also highly recommend making them in ball shapes, and doubling the recipe! Thank you for the great recipe!!

I’ve never tried it but it should work. You may want to allow it to come to room temperature before trying to work with it. Good luck!

Yes you can use gluten free flour as long as you add the baking powder and salt. For one cup of self-rising flour, whisk together one cup of all-purpose (or in your case gluten free) flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt
