This flavorful Beef and Broccoli recipe is easy to make and faster than takeout. It’s a family-friendly meal that’s done in under 30 minutes!

Even the picky eaters in my family enjoy this meal! They can leave the broccoli and onions aside if they aren’t in the mood. It is delicious over rice or noodles!

Tonia’s Notes
The weather here in Minnesota has turned absolutely gorgeous! After the cold temps from a few weeks ago, 60 degrees feels balmy, and everyone is in a great mood. The kids have been playing outside as soon as they get out of school, and families are out taking walks.
We are never sure how long the warm spring weather will last, but we are going to soak up every minute of it while we can. The nice weather calls for easy dinner recipes, and this beef and broccoli recipe can be ready in less than 30 minutes!

How To Make Beef and Broccoli

Prep Sauce
Combine the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, one tablespoon of cornstarch, minced ginger, and crushed red pepper. Set aside.

Coat Beef
Mix together two tablespoons of cornstarch, water, and garlic. Add the sliced flank steak and stir to coat.

Cook Beef
Heat two tablespoons of oil in a frying pan. Cook the beef for 3-4 minutes until cooked through, stirring often. Remove the beef from the frying pan and set it aside.

Stir Fry Broccoli and Onions
Using the same pan, heat one tablespoon of oil. Add the broccoli and onions. Stir-fry until tender.

Add Sauce
Return the cooked steak to the pan and add the soy sauce mixture. Cook and stir for 3-5 minutes, until the sauce is thickened.

Recipe Tips
- Serve With: I suggest serving the beef and broccoli over rice or noodles. For sides, try making an Asian salad, egg rolls, steamed vegetables, potstickers, or cream cheese wontons.
- Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
- Freezer: Store in an airtight freezer-safe container in the freezer for up to a month.
- Reheat: Allow frozen leftovers to thaw in the fridge overnight. Reheat leftovers in a skillet or in the microwave.

Has anyone used frozen broccoli for this recipe?

This was absolutely delicious. Only change I made was using fresh ginger. It has a nice little bit of heat to it without overpowering the dish. Nice sauce!

I would have to say that this is as good as it looks. I made the beef and gravy minus the broccoli. Wow!!

I tried your recipe, and it is delicious. I made it twice last week. Thanks for sharing.

For people with Celiac Disease, this is not gluten free. Beef broth and soy sauce both contain flour. For me though, it sounds delicious.
Tonia says
Hi Jen, May I ask where you read that it was gluten free? I don’t typically delve into food allergies since I don’t have all of the information I would need to make those claims. Was it possible another website like Pinterest that said it was gluten free? Pinterest automatically adds it’s own tags and descriptions to recipes based on the ingredients. Warmly, Tonia

Both beef broth and soy sauce are available in gluten free versions. I actually substitute liquid aminos for the soy sauce when cooking for my son who has celiac.

Made the Beef & Broccoli last night and there was none left for lunch today! That’s usually a good sign that it was pretty good! Been trying to take some of the weekly meals off my wife since she went back to work full time. Your site has given me several and they’ve all been good and easy to prepare. I will probably hold out the broccoli a bit longer next time as we prefer to eat it on the crunchy side. Other than that it was very good. Thanks for the help.

forgot to add that I used finely grated fresh ginger.
