Crispy Air Fryer Cream Cheese Wontons are filled with garlic cream cheese. Serve these easy cream cheese puffs as an appetizer or side dish.

fried wontons in a wooden bowl

The first cream cheese wontons were authentic, homemade ones from my neighbor who was making them for a family celebration of hers. They were the best cream cheese puffs I’ve ever had! These air fryer cream cheese wontons are a simplified version that is healthier and quicker to make.

cream cheese and spices in a glass bowl

Start by preparing the cream cheese filling. Put the softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley flakes in a small bowl. Stir the cream cheese mixture until combined.

What can I add to cream cheese wontons?

These air fryer cream cheese wontons are simply seasoned with garlic, onion, and parsley from the pantry. You can use minced garlic, chopped green onions, and fresh parsley if you prefer. If you want to add meat try crab, shrimp, sausage, or even bacon.

wonton wrappers and a glass bowl on a piece of parchment paper

Lay out six wonton wrappers and moisten the edges with water.

cream cheese filling in a measuring spoon

Scoop up one teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture.

cream cheese dollops on wonton wrappers

Place the dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the center of the wonton wrapper.

5 wonton wrappers with cream cheese filling on top, and one wrapper folded over the cream cheese

Fold each wonton wrapper in half diagonally creating a triangle. Press around the cream cheese mixture to remove any excess air.

folded wontons and a glass bowl on parchment

Fold up two of the points over the middle and secure in place with a little water. Repeat the process making six more cream cheese wontons.

wontons in an air fryer basket

Place the cream cheese wonton in the air fryer coating both sides well with olive oil spray. Start by cooking them with the points facing down. Bake them at 350˚F for 4 minutes.

Spray the cream cheese puffs with olive oil, flip them over and spray the top side. Then, cook at 350˚F for 4-6 minutes, until golden brown.

Carefully remove the air fryer cream cheese wontons and place them on a tray or in a bowl.

golden colored wontons in a wooden bowl

Coating the wontons well with olive oil spray makes them turn out golden and crispy in the air fryer! We like eating our cream cheese puffs plain but you can serve them with a sweet and sour sauce or a sweet chili sauce if you prefer.

What should I serve with air fryer cream cheese wontons?

I made these with pimento cheese. Didn’t seal them well enough on my first try so they leaked but were still delicious!

These were good. I come from the green chile state, I added a little and spiced it up.

        Hi Kim,
Yes, you can prepare the cream cheese wontons ahead of time and store them in the freezer! Once you’ve assembled them, par-freeze them by placing them in a single layer on a tray or plate, loosely covering them with plastic wrap, and placing them in the freezer for about 1 hour until frozen. Then, transfer them to an airtight freezer bag or container and store them in the freezer until ready to use.

I can’t wait to try these! I love rotisserie chicken, so I’m gonna add that or chop shrimp……I’m sure either would be good!😋

You can bake them in the oven at 375˚F for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
