The Best Ham And Cheese Croissants

These are the best Ham and Cheese Croissants with sliced ham topped with melted cheese on a flaky croissant! Just like my grandma used to make.

    Ham and Cheese Croissant

Today I wanted to share the best ham and cheese croissants! I’ve been eating these my whole life. It started at my grandpa and grandma’s house.

This was one of my grandma’s favorite things to make for us, and we loved it. One time, she spent hours making homemade chicken noodle soup, and we wouldn’t eat it.

When I say homemade, I mean that she even made the noodles. Now, as an adult, I would love it if someone made it for me, but as a kid…no way…I wanted my chicken noodle soup from the classic red can.

Anyway, the ham and cheese croissants were a much better option for us kids. They were flaky, warm, and covered with melted cheese.

Ham and Cheese Croissant Close Up

These ham and cheese croissants are super easy to make! The secret is that you assemble the sandwiches and then bake them in the oven for a few minutes.

Putting them in the oven makes the croissant really flaky, and it melts the cheese. You can see it in the picture above! I use croissants from the bakery to make things easier, but if you have the desire to make homemade croissants… go for it!

What kind of ham should I use for these ham and cheese croissants?

The ham I used was leftover from a meal we had recently. Ham is typically a winter meal, but I make it year-round because my family loves it and I think it is one of the easiest meats to make.

You can find my recipe for Mom’s Famous Bone-In Ham here. Or you could also use sliced deli ham if you don’t have leftover bone-in ham.

This is exactly the reminder I needed of how we fixed these in college during the 1980’s! Thank you. Now we’re retired and this is perfect again as a simple dinner.

Oh my goodness. Simply delicious as is. I also tried it with some Chick-Fil-A sauce and it was also delicious! I love how the croissants came out perfectly toasted.

The croissants with cheese and ham
are wonderful and this recipe is great and shows up on many websites. I remember this recipe from long ago but it always included some yellow mustard, which I always added.

I make my own croissants for this sandwich and I roll the dough like you do for a cinnamon roll and mush down on it slightly before baking. The come out more like buns.

These are PERFECT! Just delicious as is! Used deli ham and Swiss cheese and heated as directed!
Love the fact that it is just ham, cheese melted on a croissant! No silly sauces, etc!
I would order this everyday for lunch (kinda pricey)
But just assemble at home and lightly nuke at work for lunch. Yuum! Save money! Thank you!
