Easy Pepperoni Rolls Frequently Asked Questions

    1. Can these easy pepperoni rolls be frozen and reheated?

Yes! Follow all of the steps and fully bake the pepperoni rolls. Allow them to cool completely and then freeze them in an air-tight container. To reheat the pepperoni rolls, bake them in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.

    2. Can easy pepperoni rolls be prepared ahead of time and baked before serving? Possibly. Pillsbury dough is formulated to be baked right after you open the tube of dough. For the best possible results, use bread dough instead of Pillsbury dough to prepare the pepperoni rolls ahead of time.

    3. If I can’t purchase Pillsbury biscuits, what can I use instead? Bread dough is a great alternative to Pillsbury biscuits. An easy option is Rhodes frozen bread dough. Follow the directions on the package for thawing the dough so that it is ready when you want to make the pepperoni rolls. Another option is to use crescent roll dough.

    4. Can I use Pillsbury Grands biscuits instead? Yes! Cut the biscuits in half before flattening them since they are bigger in size.

    5. Is the egg wash necessary? The egg wash helps the toppings stick and tops of the pepperoni rolls brown. They can be made without it if preferred.

    6. Can other cheeses be used? Definitely! Use whichever cheese you prefer. You can even use shredded cheese, cheese sticks or string cheese.

    7. What about other toppings and fillings? These pepperoni rolls can easily be turned into anything you want! I’ve made sausage pizza balls, mac ‘n cheese balls, bacon cheeseburger pizza balls, cheese bombs, and taco bites.

I have made these two times and everyone loved them!! The second time I prepared them, I made them a little different. I sprinkled the biscuits with seasonings prior to adding the cheese and pepperoni (so the seasoning was inside, and packed flavor in every bite, and not just on top). I also cut the biscuits in half so they were smaller. I also made them the night before and covered them and put them in the fridge so I could bake them the next day. When I was ready to bake them, I sprayed Pam non stick butter on top, and found it worked just as well as egg, then added the cheese and baked according to the directions.

Thanks Kersden! I love that they worked without using the egg! I will have to try that next time and great idea to put some spices inside!

Since I’m totally dependent on knowing exact amounts of everything (isn’t OCD lovely? :-))…can I ask what you mean specifically in regards to a “block” of cheese? They vary in size, so I’d like to know what size you used, etc.

The blocks of cheese I purchased were just the 8 oz size blocks of cheese. I cut them into small cubes probably 1/2 inch cubes. Truly is doesn’t matter what size, as you can see in the picture they are all different sizes…sorry I know that doesn’t help your OCD 🙂 You can even use shredded cheese if you want but I think it is harder to pinch the dough around shredded cheese.

Thank you so much for posting these! I made them as an easy make-ahead lunch, and it was a huge hit. My daughter and I prepared them together the night before, and then popped them in the oven the next day while I was busy with home preschool activities with my kids.I hope you don’t mind that I shared this recipe and how I used it as an easy cooking with kids and make-ahead lunch at http://www.fantasticfunandlearning.com/pizza-balls-easy-make-ahead-lunch-to-cook-with-kids.html. Thanks again!

Made these tonight and loved them. Used 1 can of Grands biscuits. Cut them in half and formed them into circles. Turned out great. Did not have canned pizza sauce so used jarred spaghetti sauce. Will definitey make them again and try some of the other suggestions–bbq chicken, little smokies, taco filling.

I used your idea tonight and made breakfast ones. I added scrambled eggs, sausage and shredded cheddar cheese. I brushed butter on top and added Romano cheese. Turned out awesome. My pregnant friend was especially happy with her late night special delivery snack lol. My fiance and 2 friends that were here loved them too 🙂 I made a bunch and am going to try to freeze them for my kids for a quick before school breakfast! Also going to try pizza, taco and pepperoni ones!!! Thanks for the great idea!!!!

Ok..here is my idea: Take two tubes of pizza dough, spread out one on a cookie sheet. Add scrambled eggs, ham or bacon or sausage and cheese. Place another pizza dough on top and pinch the sides. I think if it works it would be less time consuming for breakfast. I like your idea for finger snacks but for breakfast I think this might work.

Since 3 cans of dough have 30 biscuits each, wouldn’t you need at least 60 pieces of pepperoni and 30 pieces cheese? These look great, though. I am adding them to my recipe box!

You are a smart cookie! Yes if 3 cans of dough have 10 biscuits each that would make 30 biscuits total! But I only used 28 of the biscuit so that they would fit in the pan (4 rows of 7). The great thing is that you can make them in what every manner works best for you!

I used crumbled cooked sausage and scrambled eggs with minced onions and mozzarella cheese for the filling and it is delicious.I didn’t place them so close together and I buttered the tops after they were done baking. I also flattened one and put the filling on top then used another flattened one to cover and pinched the sides together.
