Drizzle homemade Marshmallow Topping on your chocolate or s’mores ice cream! This recipe is easy to make with only four ingredients.

This marshmallow topping is perfect for ice cream, plus you can dip graham crackers, cookies, and fruit into it. Or drizzle it on top of a chocolate cake or brownies!

    Tonia’s Notes

I have fond childhood memories of gallon-sized buckets of chocolate marshmallow ice cream. On hot summer days, we had ice cream cones and bowls of ice cream. This marshmallow topping reminds me of those treats!

We had friends over recently for Brian’s birthday, and I made several homemade ice cream toppings, including this one. Everyone got to make their own ice cream sundaes with a variety of ice creams and toppings.

    How To Make Marshmallow Topping

    Step one button.

    Ingredients

Put the marshmallow cream, heavy cream, corn syrup, and vanilla extract in a large microwave-safe bowl.

    Ingredients in a glas bowl.
    Step two button.

    Heat and Melt

Heat the mixture in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove and stir well. If the marshmallow sauce isn’t smooth yet, continue heating it in the microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring after each time, until it is smooth.

    Stirring the mixture.
    Step three button.

    Printable Label

It’s helpful to have labels for the different ice cream toppings. You can download and print my marshmallow topping label here. Cut the label out and attach it to the jar with double-sided tape.

    Recipe Tips

    • Sauce Consistency: For a thicker consistency, use less heavy cream, and for a thinner sauce, use more cream.
    • Make Ahead: I always make this a day ahead of time so that there’s less to do the day of the party.
    • Storage: Allow the marshmallow sauce to cool, then store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
    • Reheat: Reheat the marshmallow sauce in the microwave in a microwave-safe container. It reheats VERY quickly, so warm it in 10-second intervals while watching so that it doesn’t boil over.

Already said how great but forgot to note that it was slightly runny so I added 2 tbsp of thick thickit and consistency was perfect!
