Tonia’s Notes
My husband Brian loves peanut butter more than anyone else I know, and he’s loved it since he was a kid. So, I decided to make peanut butter ice cream topping for his birthday party!
And since my favorite ice cream topping is peanut butter cups, it makes sense that I enjoy this on my ice cream as much as he does…especially if I add some of my homemade chocolate sauce.
This recipe only includes five ingredients and is ready in minutes. I like that I can make it ahead of time so that all we have to do is warm it up to use it.

How To Make Peanut Butter Ice Cream Topping

Bring To A Boil
When you bring the sugar and corn syrup to a boil, the sauce should be full of bubbles like this. If you boil it too long, it will start to harden, and if you don’t get it hot enough, the sugar won’t dissolve.

Peanut Butter
I’ve made the mistake of trying to add the peanut butter while the pan is still on the heat, and the peanut butter seized. So, for the best results, remove the pan from the heat before stirring in the peanut butter and cream. Also, if you are a huge fan of crunchy peanut butter, like my husband is, you can use it instead of creamy peanut butter!

Flavoring
I like adding vanilla extract for extra flavor. It’s also delicious with maple flavoring or almond extract.

Printable Label
It’s helpful to have labels on the ice cream toppings when having an ice cream party! You can get this peanut butter topping label here and print it on your home printer. Attach it to the jar or container with glue or double-sided tape.

Storage Tips
- Make Ahead: When I plan to serve this to guests, I make it ahead of time and reheat it before we use it on ice cream.
- Refrigerator: Store the peanut butter topping in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
- Freezer: Store it in a freezer-safe airtight container in the freezer for 1-2 months. Thaw it in the fridge before reheating.
- Reheat: You can reheat it in the microwave on low or in a saucepan over low heat while stirring. Add a little cream or milk if needed.
