Strawberry Nachos with Cinnamon Chips and Cream

Strawberry season is just around the corner and I’m seeing strawberries recipes everywhere! It’s making me so excited for summer. A couple of years ago I saw a photo in a magazine for strawberry nachos at a strawberry festival in California and I’ve wanted to make them ever since.

Not only do the strawberry nachos look beautiful, but they are also good to eat. We like them even more than strawberry shortcake!

Where is the Strawberry Nachos recipe? In this post, I will share step-by-step instructions with photos for how to make the nachos, as well as answering FAQs about the recipe and sharing a short video showing the recipe in motion. But you can go directly to the recipes by scrolling down to the bottom of the post.

How To Make Strawberry Nachos With Cinnamon Chips:

Frying Tortilla in Pan with Olive Oil

Step One: Fry Flour Tortillas

Pour the olive oil in a frying pan and warm over medium heat.  Fry the flour tortillas until they are golden brown. Use a spatula to flip them, making sure that you get both sides brown.

If you do not want to fry your tortillas, using cooking spray on each side of the tortilla to brown them is a lighter option.

Can I Use Corn Tortillas To Make Cinnamon Chips?

Yes, corn tortillas are also a great substitute for those who are looking for a gluten-free choice. If you are looking for a lighter alternative, you can use low calorie or low carb tortillas.

As always, using different ingredients will slightly alter the look or taste of the cinnamon chips.

Sprinkling Fried Tortilla with Cinnamon Sugar

Step Two: Sprinkle With Cinnamon Sugar

Place the fried tortilla on paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Cover the tortilla with cinnamon sugar by sprinkling it on each side. The paper towels also act as a trap for any stray cinnamon sugar.

If you want to make these with less sugar, feel free to swap out regular sugar with an alternative. Some options would include Stevia, Splenda, and Truvia. Keep in mind doing this may change the flavor.

Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips

Step Three: Cut The Cinnamon Chips

Slide the cinnamon tortillas onto a cutting board and slice into triangles using a pizza cutter. To make a garnish for the strawberry nachos, chop some of the triangles into small pieces.

Step Four: Simple Strawberry Sauce

Take several small strawberries and set aside for a garnish. Chop the remaining strawberries into small pieces and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Stir with a wooden spoon and then allow the strawberries to sit for about 10 minutes. This allows the sugar and strawberries to form a syrup. Stir again to combine.

Can You Use Frozen Strawberries?

Yes, you can! If you are making this recipe when strawberries are not in season, you can use frozen strawberries that have been thawed out.

Strawberry Cinnamon Nachos

Step Five: Assemble Strawberry Nachos

Keep the cinnamon chips, whipped cream, and strawberries separate until ready to serve. Arrange the cinnamon sugar tortilla chips inside of a paper berry basket or paper boat. Spoon sugared strawberries on top and follow with scoops of whipped cream. Place the small whole strawberries on top and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar tortilla bits as a finishing touch.
