Having friends over this autumn? Make crockpot apple dump cake! You can enjoy it cold, but I suggest serving it warm with vanilla ice cream on top. It’s so easy to prepare, and it’ll make your house smell warm and cozy.

    Tonia’s Notes

It’s apple season, and I’m here for it! I love fresh, crisp apples and all of the apple desserts. Fall is a great time to have friends over, visit around a campfire, and enjoy warm apple dump cake with ice cream.

My favorite thing about this apple dessert is how fast it is to prepare with only a few ingredients that I can keep stocked in my kitchen.

How To Make Slow Cooker Apple Dump Cake

    Step one button.

    Apple Pie Filling

Spread the apple pie filling in the bottom of a greased or lined slow cooker. I used 4 ⅔ cups of my homemade apple pie filling, but you can also use two 21-ounce cans of store-bought apple pie filling.

    Step two button.

    Spiced Cake Mix

Combine the cake mix, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground allspice. Dump the mixture over the apple pie filling and spread it evenly to cover the filling.

    Mixing spices into cake mix.
    Step three button.

    Melted Butter

Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix so that it covers most of the surface. You can also tilt the crockpot to help the butter flow over the cake mix.

    Step four button.

    Cook On Low

Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours. For a crisper topping, drape paper towels over the crockpot insert during the last 30 minutes, then replace the cover. The paper towels will absorb the moisture that drips from the cover. Drizzle with caramel syrup and serve with vanilla ice cream.

    Recipe Tips

    • Shortcuts: For the ingredients, use canned apple pie filling instead of homemade apple pie filling and a spice cake mix instead of adding spices to a white cake mix. If you want it to cook faster, make it in a 9×13-inch pan by following my apple cobbler recipe.
    • Leftovers: Transfer the leftovers to an airtight container. Store them in the fridge for up to four days or in the freezer for up to two months.
    • Reheat: You can reheat the leftovers in the microwave or enjoy them cold.
