A Pie Milkshake is the ultimate ice cream treat with whole slices of pie blended into the shakes! It’s like pie a la mode in a frosty glass.

    Pie Shakes In Cups

The three pie milkshakes we made include three of our favorite pies. We made a Peanut Butter Pie Milkshake, a Key Lime Pie Milkshake, and a Strawberry Pie Milkshake.

They are the BEST way to beat the heat this summer and keep this recipe on hand for when you have extra pie during the holidays!

    Tonia’s Notes

    betty's pies pics

We got the idea for Pie Shakes while on vacation. There is a famous restaurant/dessert shop in Minnesota along the north shore of Lake Superior called Betty’s Pies. We’ve driven past it many times but never stopped to eat.

Either the parking lot was too full, or we had already eaten, or whatever the case, but finally, last winter, we were on our way back from Gooseberry Falls and stopped to eat.

Unfortunately, their credit card machine wasn’t working that day so it was cash only with no ATM on site. We scrounged up what cash and change we could find and then had to choose between a meal or pie because we didn’t have enough cash for both. And we all chose pie, of course!

We had another opportunity to visit this past spring, and my whole family remembered seeing Polar Pie Shakes on the menu. On the second visit, we ordered meals, pie slices, and pie shakes. The pie shakes were such a big hit that we had to try making them at home.

    Pie Shake ingredients

All you need are some pies and some softened vanilla bean ice cream (or whatever ice cream sounds good). You can use leftover pies, store-bought pies, or homemade pies. I made these pies, and you can find the recipes here:
