    Vanilla Milkshake Ingredients

    • Milk: We used whole milk because it is thicker and helps keep the shakes creamy.
    • Ice Cream: Vanilla ice cream is the star of this shake! Since there are only a few ingredients in it, you'll want to buy the best quality ice cream you can for the best flavor.
    • Flavoring: To increase the vanilla flavor, add a little vanilla extract.
    • Toppings: For a classic look, we topped these milkshakes with whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, and maraschino cherries.

How To Make A Vanilla Shake

Ice cream and milk in the blender.

Put the ingredients into the blender, starting with the milk and vanilla extract, followed by the vanilla ice cream.

Blend until the mixture is smooth, and then pour it into two glasses. Top each one with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry.

    Other Ways To Make It

It’s hard to top a classic, but you can use this vanilla shake recipe as the starting point for some other great flavors! Here are a few options:

    Vanilla Malt

A vanilla malt is just like a vanilla shake, except it has malted milk powder added to it.

    • Add three tablespoons of vanilla malted milk powder to the blender with the other ingredients.

    Vanilla Bean Milkshake

A vanilla bean milkshake has pretty little flecks of vanilla bean in it.

    • Use vanilla bean ice cream.
    • Add vanilla bean paste instead of vanilla extract.

    Strawberry Vanilla Milkshake

You can give your shake a taste of summer and a pretty pink color with the addition of strawberries!

    • Add 1/2 cup of sliced strawberries to the blender along with the other ingredients.
    • Top the shake with pink sprinkles and garnish the glass with a strawberry.

    Melted Snowman Milkshake

Turn it into a melted snowman milkshake for a holiday treat or a Christmas in July party! Top the shake with a miniature peanut butter cup for a hat, sprinkle eyes, a butterscotch (or peanut butter) baking chip for a nose, and pretzel sticks for arms.
